Enriching and renewing lives by bringing Christ to our community.
Our History
Risen Christ Lutheran Church began when Rev. Gordon Bohlmann accepted a call to plant a church in Springfield. He began his local ministry by inviting adults to a Bible study in his home. The first worship service of Risen Christ Lutheran Mission was held in early 1987, at Northwestern Middle School with 158 worshippers in attendance. Worship services continued at the adjacent Northwestern High School until our new building was dedicated in September, 1991. The original sanctuary now serves as our fellowship hall, as we now enjoy our larger, beautiful, new sanctuary which was dedicated in 2008.
A preschool was initiated in August,1993. It proved to be more successful than anticipated; thus, kindling the spirit to begin a Christian Day School. Risen Christ Lutheran School (RCLS) began in 2004 with a Kindergarten class, taught by Becky Reid. The following year it was expanded to include First Grade and has grown in ensuing years to include classes through the Sixth Grade. Mrs. Reid serves as Principal of RCLS.
