Risen Christ Food Pantry

One of our local missions is a food pantry that serves anyone in need including those our local community. The pantry was started by a member of the congregation who began providing cereal to families in need. The pantry has grown significantly since that time and we are now serving an average 60 families or 150 people a month and recently have served over 200 people per month.  The pantry is staffed primarily with volunteers from the congregation and also a few school students.

Our goal is to provide 3 meals for 3 days of healthy food for each family or person per month. The food for the pantry is currently donated by the congregation and purchased from Second Harvest food bank of Springfield, Ohio.  We are thankful for Second Harvest, which is a wonderful resource that pools donations from grocery chains and sells them to us at a very low cost.  We are always in need of donations specifically canned fruits, boxed meals, side dishes like macaroni and cheese, as well as paper grocery bags for packing.

The pantry is open every 3rd Tuesday of each month from 12 noon until 3:00.  Our hope is to continue growing and increasing the number of days we are open and possibly create a garden
for fresh vegetables.
